One thing we've lost as animation made the transition from analog to digital is the uncertainty that comes with cels, paint and film cameras with sometimes not-perfect registers. What we've lost in texture is made up for in amazingly perfect colour palettes and precision in timing. This is an excellent example of the levels of refinement that can be achieved in designing a colour space for a film. Also, it's a nice, simple story told in an interesting way.
